Anthony Sultan

Anthony Sultan

Managing Partner

Anthony is the firm’s managing partner, which he co-founded in 2008. He is a graduate of London School of Economics and Manchester Business School. Before qualifying as a lawyer, Anthony held a number of board roles within high profile SMEs.

This experience enables Anthony to provide a very commercial approach to finance and the law, giving pragmatic rather than theoretical advice to clients. He regularly advises clients on loan terms and conditions to maximise effectiveness.

Anthony concentrates on property finance, representing a number of secured lenders, particularly within the bridging sector, dealing with loan origination and securitisation through to property enforcement, including repossessions and appointment of LPA Receivers.

Anthony is also responsible for the Firm’s loan management outsource services, working closely with lenders to achieve a successful exit by managing loans through their full lifecycle.

Daniella Lipszyc

Senior Partner

Daniella is a highly respected commercial and property litigation solicitor. She has a reputation for her formidable and feared approach as a litigator, whilst exercising commercial pragmatism. Daniella, who was previously a finalist in the “Business Woman of the Year”, is regularly asked for comments from TV and in the National Press.

Daniella has been described by the Telegraph and the Independent as an expert in the Consumer Credit Act and regularly advises lenders as to the revised regulations and upcoming developments in credit matters.

She describes the mission statement of ULS as “speed through experience”.

Daniella’s main focus is property litigation, dealing with the realisation of property assets from defaulting borrowers or recovering service charge arrears from defaulting tenants.

Ali Sheikh

Head of Litigation

Called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, Ali began his legal career in the Middle East in 2004, advising family offices, Fortune 100 and 500 companies, and defence contractors across multiple jurisdictions. He was recognised by Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500 in Bahrain from 2008 to 2016, and was co-lead of an IFLR Deal of the Year-winning transaction in 2009.

After returning to the UK in 2016 and practising with specialist boutique firms in Manchester, Ali joined ULS in December 2025. He heads the Litigation Department, specialising in commercial litigation and dispute resolution — including debt recovery, lender and receiver advisory work, construction adjudication, sanctions matters, and asset recovery.

Head of Redemptions & Pre-litigation Recoveries

Diana heads up the redemption and pre-litigation recoveries team. Her extensive experience in debt recovery matters ensures that ULS offers slick processes to both lender and borrower.

Many lenders choose to outsource their redemption work to ULS, due to our streamlined processes which are recognised within the sector as being fast, efficient and cost effective.

Bushra is a Senior Associate in the Property Team. She advises on a wide range of residential and commercial property matters, including acquisitions and disposals, property finance, and commercial leasing transactions.

Qualified as a Solicitor in 2007, Bushra is an experienced property lawyer who takes a practical and commercial approach to transactions, providing clear, responsive advice supported by technical expertise. She is committed to helping clients achieve their objectives efficiently and effectively.

Paul Bellis

Paul was previously Head of Private Client work (including, Property, Wills, Probate and Trusts) at HCB Widdows Mason, before joining ULS.

After a long career at ULS, Paul is now a consultant to the company, working part-time.

He complements other members of the property team through his specialist skills gained from probate and trust work and due to his extensive experience in other areas (including residential, commercial leases, business sales and acquisitions) to enable more complicated transactions to proceed smoothly and efficiently.

Paul also acts for short term lenders dealing with loan origination. He is often lenders’ solicitor of choice, for dealing with more complex borrowing scenarios involving probate and trusts. He has a reassuring style that reflects his professionalism and dedication.

Iwona is the Firm’s Legal Cashier. She has worked for ULS for over 15 years. She is responsible for the daily processing of financial transactions relating to property and loan transactions including the prompt repayment of capital to individual or syndicated funders upon the redemption of loans.

Gordon King

Gordon King

Practice Manager

Gordon oversees the firm’s operations, compliance and technology functions, ensuring the business runs efficiently, securely and in line with all regulatory requirements. An accredited ISO auditor, he leads the firm’s compliance framework, prepares for audits and inspections, and helps maintain the high standards expected of a modern legal practice.

He is responsible for staff training and development, cybersecurity, data protection, technology systems and office operations, ensuring colleagues have the tools, knowledge and support they need to deliver excellent service to clients.

Stephen Feeney

Stephen is an Associate in the firm’s litigation team, specialising in high-value financial, debt and property disputes. He holds a law degree from the University of Manchester and completed his legal practice training at BPP University Manchester before qualifying with a top-tier firm, Browne Jacobson LLP.

Stephen brings a sharp, commercial focus to dispute resolution. He acts regularly for secured lenders, bridging finance providers, challenger banks and institutional landlords, as well as insolvency practitioners and large corporate entities. His expertise encompasses complex unsecured and specialist finance recovery, secured debt disputes, insolvency litigation, and landlord and tenant matters.

Recognising the critical timing involved in financial and property disputes, Stephen emphasises the rapid protection of client assets and security. He provides strategic, cost-effective advice tailored to securing pragmatic recoveries rather than entering prolonged and costly court battles — guiding clients through asset tracing and recovery, LPA Receivership appointments and validity of appointment reviews, and enforcement.

Outside of the office, Stephen holds a 2nd Dan black belt in Karate and coaches others in his spare time, drawing on more than 20 years of knowledge and experience, having competed internationally against some of the top martial artists in the world. Stephen is also an avid lifelong learner and enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children.
